Murfreesboro Eye Center is committed to supporting the arts, education, sports, and civic events in our community by proudly sponsoring the following organizations in 2023.

THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS

The mission of the Center for the Arts is to enhance the quality of life in the community by providing cultural and economic enrichment through the arts. This non-profit 501 (c)3 presents theatrical productions, visual art exhibitions, music concerts, dance performances and educational classes.

The Center for the Arts is housed in an Italianate structure built in 1909 by the U.S. Department of Treasury on the site of an old livery station. The building originally served as the Post Office and in 1962 became the Linebaugh Library. After the library relocated, the building was renovated and became the Center for the Arts. The renovation of the building was awarded the Governor’s Award for Economic and Community Development. Full house is 112 individuals per show.

CENTRAL MAGNET SCHOOL

Founded in 2010, Central Magnet School is a public magnet school and is a part of the Rutherford County school system. They serve students from grades 6 through 12 and are known for their academic rigor and numerous awards.

KINGS HAMMER SOCCER CLUB
(formerly Murfreesboro Soccer Club)

Through a partnership with the city, recreational and competitive soccer is provided through the Kings Hammer Soccer Club, formerly (recently) known as the Murfreesboro Soccer Club, at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex and Community Park. Spring and fall programs are offered for all ages.

Founded in 1977, Kings Hammer Soccer Club provides soccer programs for recreational, competitive youth and adult players and offers US Soccer Federation’s TOPS (The Outreach Program) to over 1000 families each year in Rutherford County and the City of Murfreesboro.

TENNESSEE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

The Tennessee Philharmonic Orchestra is one of over 1.200 professional orchestras in the US. For more than four decades, they have been bringing quality live music to tens of thousands of music lovers in the entire Middle Tennessee Region. Individuals who donate to keep the music going, along with generous business sponsors and grants make their concerts possible.

The orchestra also is a community partner with Murfreesboro City Schools Community. Their education program reaches students from 2nd to 12th grade across the Middle Tennessee area. Members of TPO bring performances directly to the schools and work with 2nd-grade teams on incorporating science standards with instruments and music. 

MURFREESBORO LITTLE LEAGUE

Murfreesboro Little League is the official Little League program for children ages 4 to 16. They are the longest running baseball program in the area servicing Rutherford County for over 50 Years.

The spring season begins early April and runs through the end of May/early June. The divisions include tee ball league (age 4-5), coach pitch minor league (age 6), coach pitch major league (age 7-8), kid pitch minor league (age 9-10), kid pitch major league (age 11-12), and senior league (age 13-16).

MAIN STREET MURFREESBORO

As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Main Street Murfreesboro is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America.

Main Street’s mission is to maintain, enhance, and promote the downtown as the heart of the community. Downtown is the heart of the community and the center for government, arts, churches, and financial institutions. Downtown is an important community space where members of all segments of the community can meet equally for parades, speeches, and other community events.

Main Street Murfreesboro is a nonprofit organization, relying on public and private donations for operations and projects. They receive no funding from state or federal programs.

BLACKMAN HIGH SCHOOL

Blackman High School Mission Statement: Blackman High School students will graduate with the academic knowledge and career technical skills needed for success in life.

Blackman High School is operated by the Rutherford County Schools. The school was established, in 2000, to complement the existing Blackman Elementary School.
